| ‘A luxury liner has berthed on Vesterbrogade, steering in through the city’s busy commercial district amid heavy traffic’. This is a paraphrase of a headline which appeared in a Danish daily when Hotel Astoria first opened its doors beside Central Station back in 1935. And there it remains to this day, Copenhagen’s prized architectural and historic gem now revamped and modernised through the collaborative efforts of DGI-byen and the modern Danish design firm GUBI, with specially designed furniture and colour scheme. Located in the very heart of Copenhagen next to the Tivoli Gardens you get to explore cosmopolitan Copenhagen’s rich cultural life, magnificent shopping and, of course, the city’s by now long list of gourmet eateries, just out-side your room door. This exciting, functional building, oozing with ambience is just 100 metres from the Tivoli Gardens, and a short walk from Town Hall Square and the pedestrianised shopping streets. And, needless to say, we recommend our restaurant, Vestauranten, newly furbished in an old cattle holding stall dating from when the building was part of Copenhagen’s meat packing district, where now gastronomy, a good night out and focus on nutrition combine for your dining pleasure (discount 10%).
